  1. I'm such a dork but I really love this meme. It makes me smile. :D and I'm jealous of your time in Costa Rica. Crossing my fingers that I'll get to go there for a little while next year!

  4. You would have some fabulous stories to tell from your travels and I have yet to experience Cobb salad. That's a fun meme!

  5. What a fun meme! Your travels certainly peak one's interest, as do your book recommendations. I'm rereading Rebecca at the moment - can't believe how much I've forgotten in 15 years since I last read it! Have a great weekend and thanks for sharing this with us.

  7. I had to come out of lurkdom as I live in Omaha and see you used to live here as well! I agree with you on those books that are worth reading over and over again! And I heartily recommend Fingersmith to people as well! I may have to snag this meme from you sometime--lovely idea.

  8. Mt. Clemens, huh? I live near there (Rochester Hills). :)

And yay for the Ethan Frome shout out. Such a wonderful little book.

I'm going to have to do this one-it is so much fun!

  9. Amanda -- Costa Rica was just wonderful, I hope you make it there next year. I'm still hoping to visit South America too.

Care -- Anansi Boys is by far my favorite Neil Gaiman book. If you get a chance you should listen to the audiobook narrated by Lenny Henry. It's brilliant.

Brenna -- I loved the photos in your top fours, and I am so jealous you lived in California.

Darlene -- I love any kind of giant salad. The best Cobb salad I ever had was at The Brown Derby at Disney Hollywood Studios, which is supposed to be the original recipe. The recipe is in one of the Disney cookbooks.

Sarah -- I reread Rebecca about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised at how well it has stood up, I hadn't read it since I was a teenager. It's still great. Du Maurier's short stories are great too.

Rebecca -- I agree, I love other peoples' lists.

Danielle -- I LOVED Omaha, despite the winters. It was such a nice city (only lacking in good Mexican restaurants, which have hopefully improved since I left). I keep recommending Fingersmith to EVERYONE, need to read more Sarah Waters now.

Allie -- My parents still live there! Maybe we can meet next time I get back to Michigan! I look forward to reading your meme.
